A sculpted ceramic plate in the shape of a halved pear: a yellow body flecked densely in russet brown, edged in green, with a cream core holding four brown seeds in relief and a sculpted brown stem at the top. The speckling is the piece, applied loose and irregular, heavier at the edges and sparser toward the core, which is what a real pear does and what a printed pattern never manages.
