A sculptural ceramic whisky glass: a cylinder cut straight through twice and reassembled slightly out of register, three stacked segments each stepped off the one below, in a warm amber glaze that pools gold along every edge the cut created. The proportions follow the tumbler medio, the medium-height Italian bar tumbler, which for whisky makes it the everyday glass: a large peg with soda, a whisky-paani, a long pour over ice. Ceramic insulates, so ice dilutes more slowly than it would in thin glass. Straight up is what you ask for when you want it without ice, and it is also how this glass was cut.
